December 29, 20235 min read

OSTs are a vastly important part of any movie or TV production for several reasons; engagement, can serve as a storytelling tool, helping to define characters and their emotional journeys, can immerse viewers in the world of the show, A catchy or emotionally resonant song can attract attention, increase the show’s popularity, and contribute to its commercial success and memorability. These are some of our top OSTs for 2023.

8. Keep Me Busy – Punch

King The Land was undoubtedly one of the top TV shows to air this year and Keep Me Busy by Punch. The song serves as the perfect atmospheric setting to the main lead’s journey into something as new to him as love. Soft and refreshing, the perfect song to go with it.

7. Someday – Park Eun Bin

Very few people who watched Castaway Diva were not shocked by the display of talent Park Eun bin gave us. Eun bin’s vocal performance shines through the track, showcasing her ability to convey vulnerability and strength simultaneously. The melody, accompanied by gentle instrumentation, creates an immersive listening experience that captivates from start to finish.

A song which speaks about that one person, the one. With soft tones and equally soft yet powerful vocals, It’s You transports you into the world of Destined With You and makes you feel loved.

5. Star – Colde

Everywhere you were on social media, on every single platform, you would be able to find countless fan edits with this amazing song. It was a huge part of the production of See You In My 19th Life and served as the perfect way to describe how the female lead saw the people around her. The track’s minimalist yet richly textured arrangement allows Colde’s vocals to take center stage, showcasing his vocal prowess and emotional range. The subtle progression of the music creates an immersive atmosphere, drawing the listener deeper into the contemplative journey the song offers.

Behind Your Touch was definitely one of the most refreshing surprises of 2023 when it came to TV shows. It was funny, irreverent and interesting, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that the OST would have a powerful and refreshing song like Joohoney’s Hip Hop. Monsta X’s main rapper delivered strong vocals on the track and left us wanting more. We definitely look forward to more Joohoney on OSTs!

Still You by Seungkwan felt like falling in love, just like the characters in Doctor Romantic 3 did. Overall, “Still You” displays Seungkwan’s vocal talent and ability to connect with listeners through his beautiful delivery. It’s a ballad that resonates long after it ends.

2. Full Moon – Kihyun

Full Moon is a song that takes you on the main character’s journey as a Gumiho (or Nine Tailed Fox). A display of powerful vocals (a common occurrence when it comes to Monsta X’s main vocal) and rock arrangements that just pair well. Kihyun has been involved in many OST projects and we can definitely see why.

One of the most prominent figures when it comes to Korean OSTs is Kim Feel. The vocalist / lyricist / composer has always delivered some of the most beautiful ballads on all of the projects he has been involved in. My Star is no exception; a song that speaks of devotion, which is the main theme of one of the best dramas we got in 2023, My Dearest.
